#Overview
Data Governance shows the retention policy that applies to your organisation. Client roles cannot edit this section. Partner administrators manage retention policy changes, and the portal displays the current policy returned by the AiDial API.
#Prerequisites
- You are signed in to the AiDial portal. See Signing In for instructions.
- Client Admins can review the detailed retention policy.
- Client Managers can review the summary only.
- Client Staff do not receive this Settings section.
- Open Settings from the sidebar, then select Data Governance. The direct route is
/settings?section=data-governance.
#Viewing Data Governance Settings
- Open Settings from the sidebar.
- Select the Data Governance tab.
- Wait for the retention policy to load. You do not need to enter or send an API key from the browser.
- If you are a Client Manager, review the summary message and effective date for the current jurisdiction profile.
- If you are a Client Admin, review the detailed policy fields: jurisdiction, effective date, compliance status, and the retention durations for call recordings, call transcripts, and analytics or usage data.
- If no retention policy has been configured, the panel tells you to contact your service provider for details.
Client Admin and Client Manager views are read-only. To request a change to the jurisdiction profile or retention durations, contact your AiDial delivery partner.

#Access and Scope
The Settings sidebar entry is visible only to roles with a meaningful Data Governance view, but navigation visibility is not the security boundary. Access is checked again when the panel loads.
For client roles, tenant scope comes from the signed-in session. The page does not allow you to choose another tenant, and out-of-scope or unsupported access is returned as not found rather than exposing tenant details.
#Common Issues

| I only see a summary | Client Managers have summary-only access. Ask a Client Admin or your AiDial delivery partner if you need the detailed retention durations. |
| I cannot edit the policy | Client roles are read-only. Contact your AiDial delivery partner to request changes. |
| No retention policy is configured | Contact your service provider for details. |
| The panel fails to load | Select Retry. If the error continues, contact your AiDial delivery partner. |
| I want to change the jurisdiction profile or retention durations | These changes must be arranged through your AiDial delivery partner. They cannot be changed by client roles from this portal section. |
